Core Temp (Freeware) “Core Temp is a compact, no fuss, small footprint program to monitor CPU temperature. The uniqueness of it is that it shows the temperature of each individual core in each processor in your system! You can see in real time how the CPU temperature varies when you load your CPU. It's also completely motherboard independent.”
CPU-Z “CPU-Z is a freeware that gathers information on some of the main devices of your system. CPU-Z does not need to be installed. Just unzip the files in a directory and run the .exe. In order to remove the program, just delete the files. The program does not copy any file in any directory, neither writes in the registry.”
EVEREST - PC Diagnostics “EVEREST Ultimate Edition is a complete PC diagnostics software utility that assists you while installing, optimizing or troubleshooting your computer by providing all the information you can think of about your system – from hardware devices and installed drivers to operating system security and stability metrics.”
Folding@home "A program that simulates protein folding, and stresses CPU. Folding@home is a distributed computing project -- people from throughout the world download and run software to band together to make one of the largest supercomputers in the world.”
FurMark “An OpenGL Benchmark and Graphics Card Stability Test program. It benchmark stresses the vertex and pixel processors by doing fur rendering.”
Futuremark "Futuremark is the world leader in 3D, mobile and PC benchmarking. Our 3DMark and PCMark lines of PC benchmark software help you get more from your PC for games, media or applications."
GPU-Z "GPU-Z, despite its similar name, wasn't developed by CPUID—the folks who brought you CPU-Z—and has no connection to them. It is a small program dedicated to displaying extremely useful information about graphics cards. This includes the exact name of the card, the type of GPU used, the GPU, memory, and shader frequencies (if the card is compatible), the number of ROPs, bus memory width, and more.”
Memset “For Memory Optimization. The program lets you change memory timings. Not only the standard CAS and RAS-to-CAS parameters, but also less common ones like Read Delay, Write to Read Command, Read to Precharge, and so on. Be aware that changing timings on the fly is fairly dangerous, though, and that crashes should probably be expected as you tweak your memory subsystem for the best possible performance.”
Memtest86 (Freeware) “Memtest86 is a thorough, stand alone memory test for x86 architecture computers. BIOS based memory tests are a quick, cursory check and often miss many of the failures that are detected by Memtest86. Memtest86 was developed by Chris Brady with a first release in 1994. However, the testing algorithms used have been under development since 1981 and have been previously implemented on Dec PDP-11, VAX-11/780 and Cray XMP architectures. Development and distribution of Memtest86 is now funded and supported by BradyTech Inc.”
OCCT (OverClock Checking Tool) A freeware multi featured program which includes customizable stability testing for CPUs with up to 16-cores, third party software monitoring support, real-time temperature and voltage graph production, etc.
Prime95 “Windows-based software written by George Woltman. Over the years, Prime95 has become extremely popular among PC enthusiasts and overclockers as a stability testing utility. It includes a "Torture Test" mode designed specifically for testing PC subsystems for errors in order to help ensure the correct operation of Prime95 on that system, which effectively stress-tests a PC.”
RivaTuner (Freeware) “RivaTuner is a complete powerful tweaking environment, providing you everything you may need to tune NVIDIA GPU based display adapters. In addition to complete NVIDIA hardware support, RivaTuner also provides support for display adapters based upon newer ATI graphics processors. All RivaTuner's features besides driver-level tuning options are also available on supported ATI hardware.”
SiSoftware Sandra (Freeware) “SiSoftware Sandra (the System ANalyser, Diagnostic and Reporting Assistant) is an information & diagnostic utility. It should provide most of the information (including undocumented) you need to know about your hardware, software and other devices whether hardware or software.”
